Gypsy moth - A bilateral gynandromorph

Gypsey Moth Gynandromorph

This photograph shows a very fine example of a bilateral gynandromorph and was submitted by an American collector for inclusion in this section. This is a stunning example of a relatively common moth. You may notice the vertical dark dividing line along the abdomen of this specimen, showing the definite transition from male to female.
