A very nice species ocuring in the western areas of New Guinea. Several sub-species have been named. Sub Species T.hyperbolus hyperbolus Jobi, Mioswar Islands, also north-western areas of West Irian. T.hyperbolus versteegi The Snow Mountains of West Irian. T.hyperbolus hyginus Waigeu Island. T.hyperbolus hyllus The Kikori and Purari River areas of Papua. T.hyperbolus oenone Central New Guinea. Sexes Male as shown, females larger and more rounded wings. Similar Species It bears a very close resemblance to Taenaris honrathi with which it is often confused. T.hyperbolus |
