Widespread in South America this small species of Parides can be found along most rain forest water courses. It is quite variable throughout it's range. Sub Species P.neophilus neophilus - Guyana, Surinam and French Guiana. P.neophilus consus - Eastern Bolivia. P.neophilus ecbolius - Lower Amazon Region od Brasil. P.neophilus eurybates - Southern Brasil to Paraguay and north-eastern Argentina. P.neophilus parianus - Trinidad and Venezuela. P.neophilus olivencius - Eastern Peru to Columbia and then to northern Brasil. Sexes - As shown, the male varies with the amount of green on the fore wing to also include some white. Females can vary to include a white patch on each fore wing. Similar Species - Closely resembles Parides echemon. |
